For generations, Rupp Arena has been woven into the identity of Lexington. As home to the Kentucky Wildcats and one of the nation’s most recognizable sports and entertainment venues, it has become a symbol of pride for the city and the Commonwealth. When the time came to reimagine the arena, the opportunity was not simply to renovate an iconic building. It was to strengthen its connection to the city, enrich the visitor experience, and ensure it continues to serve the community for generations to come.
In partnership with NBBJ, Champlin Studios helped realize a vision for the transformation of Rupp Arena and Central Bank Center into a more connected destination. The design strengthens the relationship between the arena, convention center, and downtown, extending the excitement of game day and major events well beyond the building itself. New connections encourage visitors to explore the surrounding district, support local businesses, and experience Lexington as an integral part of every visit.
The result is more than a renovated arena. It is an investment in the future of downtown Lexington that honors the legacy of one of the city’s most beloved landmarks while creating new opportunities for connection, celebration, and community. It is a place where people, purpose, and place come together long before the game begins and long after the final buzzer sounds.
