Advancing Hope Through Discovery
At the University of Cincinnati, the transformation of the former Shriners Hospital created a new home for the Blood Cancer Healing Center, bringing together outpatient clinics, infusion therapy, inpatient care, laboratories, and research within a single environment. Through the thoughtful adaptive reuse of the existing facility, the center strengthens the connection between UC’s academic research mission and UC Health’s clinical expertise, creating a place where innovation and patient care can advance side by side.
Every space was designed to support both healing and discovery. A welcoming entry and light-filled atrium create a reassuring first impression for patients and families, while thoughtfully integrated clinical, laboratory, and research environments encourage collaboration across disciplines. Together, these spaces create a setting where compassionate care, scientific discovery, and medical education work in concert to improve outcomes and expand the future of blood cancer treatment.
