Champlin Studios worked with church leadership to renovate two theater spaces while strengthening the overall experience of the building. Because church activities would continue throughout the facility during the renovation, the design needed to bring cohesion, clarity, and a consistent sense of identity across very different areas.
Making Room for Ministry
A church is more than the place where worship happens. It is where relationships are formed, faith grows, and community is strengthened through the everyday rhythm of gathering. The spaces that support ministry should be just as intentional, creating opportunities for people of every generation to connect, serve, learn, and grow together.
That vision guided the transformation of Rivers Crossing Community Church. Working closely with church leadership, Champlin Studios reimagined portions of a former movie theater complex to better support an expanding congregation while creating a more unified campus experience. Because ministry continued throughout construction, every design decision reinforced the church’s mission while supporting the natural rhythm of worship, fellowship, and community life.
The renovation created two distinct venues that expand the church’s ability to serve its congregation in different ways. The Secondary Venue provides a flexible setting for worship services, weddings, community events, and gatherings that evolve throughout the week. The Student Venue creates a dedicated home for middle school, high school, and college ministries, giving students spaces to worship, build relationships, and grow in faith within a community of their peers.
Together, these environments make better use of the existing facility while creating new opportunities for ministry to flourish. The result is a church home designed to support the evolving rhythm of connection, creating space for worship, discipleship, and relationships that will continue to strengthen the congregation for years to come.
