Ministry doesn’t begin with a building. It begins with a vision to reach people where they are. Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities are found by reimagining what already exists and creating places that invite worship, build relationships, and strengthen community.
Finding Opportunity In Unexpected Places
As Crossroads Church’s East Side community continued to grow, church leadership began looking for a permanent home that could support its expanding ministry. That opportunity emerged in an unexpected place: a vacant strip mall in Eastgate. Working alongside the church, Champlin Studios developed an adaptive reuse strategy that transformed the existing retail space while overcoming significant site and building constraints. Through thoughtful planning and a carefully integrated addition, the campus now provides space for worship, children’s ministry, student programs, and community gathering without losing sight of its surrounding context.
Every design decision was guided by the church’s mission and the rhythm of life within the campus. A new worship venue creates room for a growing congregation, while dedicated children’s and student environments support every stage of faith development. Warm, regionally reclaimed materials and welcoming gathering spaces reinforce a sense of belonging and create meaningful opportunities for connection before and after services.
More than a renovation and addition, the campus reflects the belief that ministry can flourish wherever people are welcomed, relationships are strengthened, and communities are served.
