Named for Elwood, the first woman-owned horse to win the Kentucky Derby, the hotel draws inspiration from Kentucky’s rich heritage while creating a hospitality experience that feels warm, inviting, and unmistakably local. Champlin reimagined the guest arrival by relocating the main entrance and introducing a welcoming front porch with rocking chairs, creating a first impression that captures the relaxed charm of the Bluegrass State.

Inside, every detail reinforces that sense of place. Reclaimed barn wood, handcrafted finishes, and natural materials bring warmth and authenticity to the interiors. At Fiddletree restaurant, a hand-painted botanical mural and sunset-inspired bar create a vibrant gathering place for guests and the local community. Throughout the hotel, custom furnishings, equestrian-inspired details, and abundant natural light celebrate Kentucky’s culture while creating an experience that feels timeless rather than themed.
