That vision guided the transformation of AES Ohio’s Smart Operations Center, the first facility of its kind in the United States. Working alongside Miller-Valentine, Champlin Studios reimagined a former Dayton Power & Light building into a workplace designed to support collaboration, attract top talent, and prepare the organization for the future. Every space was planned to give employees choices throughout the day, creating opportunities to focus, collaborate, learn, and recharge while strengthening connections across teams.

The design reflects the forward-thinking culture AES Ohio set out to create. Curved architectural forms, living walls, abundant daylight, and welcoming gathering spaces transform the existing building into an environment that feels open, energized, and distinctly human. Flexible work areas, an innovation lab, digital collaboration hubs, and branded storytelling reinforce the organization’s mission while supporting the evolving ways people work together.
